Use Gun? Or no Use Gun? (Part Two!)
So from where I left off since the last post, I distinctly remember leaving my readers wondering if bouncers should be handed entitlements to possess arms of deterrence; and by that I do not mean lotsa tattoos.
Barring the possibility that these nightlife security officers will be granted (by federal law) rights to semi-automatics or projectile-dependent weapons of the sort as well as sharp pointed implements, it would be fairly logical to allow the issuing of truncheons (police batons) and perhaps even the use of tazers for security purposes.
Scenario: If an unruly customer decides to get fresh with a group of girls to the extent that he is not aware of his actions, nightclub bouncers can then use their batons to beat the shit out of the asshole (not in a literal sense) or should a group of drunk teenagers step out of line with the law, a nice fresh 1000 watt jolt of electrical currents should do the trick.
And of course, the humane and very logical argument to use would be that no one dies! Yes, people get hurt, but those people probably deserved it. And the bottomline stands, they won't end up dead.
Maybe it's just me..I tend to be an extremely vindicative person who's gotten sick of seeing the same stupid behaviour displayed by many Singaporeans day-in and day-out. And I'm just hoping some big shot club owner stumbles across this post one day and suddenly decides to say, 'Hey! I think I might just do that!'
Because if bouncers keep the idiots out of a club with huge namestake, people would want to go to the club because it is a WHOLE LOT SAFER. Assuming..I said ASSUMING.. drug trafficking/consumption/abuse isn't not rampant (of course, non-existent would be the ideal), that club's reputation would suddenly find itself rocketing sky-high!
Why so? Simply because certain people made it a SAFE place to visit. I'll leave you to guess who they are.
So in conclusion, should bouncers be given to rights to wield batons and very practical, non-lethal stun guns and other deterrents such as pepper spray? I say yes, but only if the proper legal procedures have taken place and clauses have been put in place to prevent the abuse of such responsibility and newfound authority.
Otherwise, bouncers would continue to forever be stereotyped as bar-barians (Get it? Hur hur..).
END!
