Green Green Green Green..I like green. The colour of the GREENback, the colour of the armed forces and coincidentally, the colour of envy. I don't have anything to be envious of though. Even if I had, I'd just rant on about it anyway.

Couple of days ago, I came across the standfirst in the Life section of the Straits Times.

On it, were the pictures of five up-and-coming 'stars' from the local blogosphere. One of them was Dawn Yang, another was Nicholas Fang. And my very first thought was, what makes them so special? Their blog's just another fancy show of their pictures and their entries are no more fascinating than garden snails.
Yet, they garner attention because Singaporeans (for some reason), like to suck up to people with status; people who have 'made it' in the media, as I call it.

But is the practice of leaving flattering comments on the tagboards of the rich (and not-so-rich) and famous really necessary?

To the online socialite-ish blogger, fame can only be an exponential cycle with a drastic end. You have a blog which is noticed by an anonymous or random reader from the internet and you either have 1) Good context 2) Good content 3) Good humour or 4) Good looks (with this being particularly hard to find, along with number 2 -apart from mine-).
Then, with that ONE reader being seemingly impressed with their first visitation of your online rant, they soon begin to 'tell their friends'....and begin 'paying it forward.'
And from there, your blog gains popularity and your shot to fame takes aim.
And upon receiving several thousand hits a day,

You'll find that your blog hits the local newspapers or even the local news!
You'll find that your face is in the media!
You'll find that you've gotten a HUGE endorsement deal from a faggot-run company to pose for lifestyle magazines!
You'll find that basically, every slimy scumbag, is clinging onto you because they want to share your limelight, because they want to be associated with you, because they want to be WHERE YOU ARE.

Such...is the nature of commercialism, greed and honest to say, LIFE.

And then, you find yourself hitting a downturn. And you wonder why. You brush it off as JUST as 'passing phase' before finding out that you don't get as many as 6--- hits a day now.
You begin to wonder why you're becoming less popular.
You begin to wonder why people find you stale.
You begin to wonder, begin to wonder..
(Why? Because just like you have, someone else has climbed up the blogosphere ladder. Someone, takes your place..)

Such...is the nature of commercialism, greed, and no need to say, LIFE.

Damn I hate Socialites.
