Such random thoughts include:
- Am I talking the right way, using the right tone of voice and an appealing accent that's not exaggerated?
- Is it me or do people find me extremly blunt and suddenly hate me just because they find it difficult to accept how hard reality really hits them?
- "My biggest fear in life, is not talking to someone. But not receiving a positive response from the person I am talking to."
- Am I building the right chemistry with this person?
I'm sure I'm not the only person who questions their own experiences in life when it comes to social interaction. I think I do have to add that some people I know have totally no good social skills at all. The saddest part about people like them is that they don't, or are hesitant about learning to build up such skills.
Work today was pretty cool.
- New haircut, check.
- 4 piece suit, check.
- Cologne, check.
- Charming looks (hahahaha :)), check check.
Well, before I start my afternoon at work, that's pretty much the routine I go through before delivering service to big..BIG-time businessmen (and women) at the Horizon Club.
I got to meet Dr. Chihap (sp?) today at the club lounge. A lady who virtually LIVES in the Shangri-la. Here's a business woman who works with a company that requires her to travel around the South-east Asian region and also provides her with an exclusive club membership. The catch behind this membership, or basically just a requirement that entitles her to retain this membership is that she has to stay in the Shangri-la for 60 days at THREE different locations. That's ONE-HUNDRED and EIGHTY (180) days in total! I'm just flabbergasted wondering if it's her that's doing the paying, or if it's the company. If she's the one who's forking out the cash, it's no wonder she's got a doctorate to command that kind of pay; then again, when you think about it, in order to provide that kind of salary, the company's got to be pretty spanking rich too doesn't it?
But money isn't everything to me. It was really nice getting to know her initially because how she got to know me was when she asked my seniors why I didn't have a nametag and how she couldn't identify me. But I just told her I was new, I had just started work and had yet to get a tag made (for the price of 6 dollars).
So it's off to another day tomorrow, we'll see how it goes!
