So here I am now, at the sports council sitting in front of my own definition of a goggle box- a Compax 7500 monitor- typing out what I THINK might just be of those nostalgic mushy entries. Let me refresh your memories in case some of you have forgotten what's happening in this happening life of mine! As part of my final year curriculum, I've got to undergo a 2 and a half month internship program as governed by the school la basically. It's pretty fun really cause I'd say God gave me a gemof a posting- The Sports Council.
So where exactly did I get posted to? This is where MANY people would soon say, "Ah-lah! That's your area what right!". Well, perhaps..I've been posted to the Strength&Conditioning unit of the sports medicine and sports science division. Part of the job scope includes taking care of the national athletes when they undergo weight training and such. Brushing out the administrative side of it all, I'd say I'm having a preeeetty good life. It's kinda sad to note that some, or even many of my classmates weren't as lucky as I was and got posted to pretty ridiculous vocations.
So as I said, it's close to lunch time, no one's in the office, and to say that I've got lots of free and easy time here is pretty much a semi-bold understatement. Right after lunch (where I'll be napping instead), I'll get to train.
But that's not where I wanted to drift :D. Here's what I was trying to talk about:
As training for a S&C coach, I get to take care of the National U15 and U17 squads for Karate. It's been about a good two weeks now since I first got to know them and it certainly brought back alot of memories for me back in my days of training when I was 13 and 14 years old. So in a nutshell, it was very easy getting along with these kids and I've gotta hand it to them; these guys are very disciplined as compared to a rather significant number of rubbish athletes I've seen training in the athletic centre. They train hard, they don't make noise, they don't bitch and whine and some of them are just downright bloody cute. So much so that they even make ME feel all fatherly and protective.
It's a joy, simply put. When you train as an athlete, you'll know that it brings happiness to anyone's heart to see others like you putting in effort and doing things right. So with that, it's lunch time, and I'm gonna take a nap for about half an hour now. Till then!
Beat to the groove of Samba Batucada!
