HIP HIP HOORAY!!!! Let's all celebrate the very first anniversary of the creation of my blog! It was this very day where I made my first entry and it shall be this very day I will make the exact same entry, demeaning the stupid practice of wasting paper, wasting food, feeding pests and contributing to air pollution. Otherwise known as the Hungry Ghost Festival.
Here's what I'm thinking about...the HUNGRY ghost festival is apparently a time where HUNGRY ghosts of peoples' dead grandpas and grandmas are released from the gates of the underworld to come into this world to feast.
Logically speaking, this isn't exactly possible for two reasons..Firstly, I'm hypothesizing that because spirits are inate objects which means their physical structures are not present and they cannot relate to three-dimensional objects within the real world- OUR world. This means to say that it is just bloody impossible for these spirits to gobble down food laying on the streets based on the fact that they won't even be able to grab a hold onto that sponge cake you see lying on the floor. Can you possibly imagine that translucent sheet floating around, trying desparately to touch the cake, only to have its hands pass through it? All of this happening while it's going, 'OOooooOOOoooooo...aAArRRRrrrrr!!' That's pretty f*cking ridiculous if you ask me; not to mention it puts a bloody stupid picture in your head!
The second reason would be, if they're already dead, how could they be hungry? I mean, supposing the reason that these goons died in the first place was because of hunger, why couldn't they just continue being dead and not feel hungry anyway? It's like saying, 'Now, the gates of hell shall be open and there's an imaginary buffet waiting for you at every corner. Please feel free to look around and be back here within a month.'
Something else that crossed my mind was this. Assuming the average family consists of 3-4 people (2 parents, 2 kids), you could ACTUALLY count the number of Buddhists(or Taoists) living in your area everytime you see a pile of black crap lying along the road! The formula is simple. Say you spot 4 piles of ash on the pavement below that HDB block where you live, you could possibly have 12-16 idiots living in your block, and all of them will have no proper education in environmental care whatsoever.
So in short, I end with an equally short note..which is to say, you guys who burn paper and waste food, SUCK.
