All right, so it's apparent that I've got really strong flak coming from the previous entry from various blog viewers. That, however, doesn't prevent me from making another entry. But before I carry on, I've only got one thing to say to that anonymous tagger on my tagboard. Look, you might think I have a really sick sense of humour but in honest retrospect, there's really no big deal crying over the death of the head of the Church. Perhaps no one really does care about what I talk about or the kind of views and opinions I hold, but no one's asking you to comment. If you're not happy about it, buzz off and let me be.
(If you still insist I have no respect for the pope, go check my previous entries. Not once have I dissed catholicism in any way)
So with that out of the way, on to the next issue of insult, which happens to be rather relevant to the current event you see in that tagboard on the far right of the page.
It concerns the issue of the everlasting paper chase; the pursuit of the almighty dollar. Have you gone shopping and wondered, "Gee..it appears to me that more and more optical stores are popping up" or, "Hmmmm..the eyeware market seems to be booming lately!"
There is a rather logical reason for this phenomenon. Poor Singaporean youths nationwide do NOTHING but study and mug, study and mug as they become slaves to their books in search for academic excellence and recognition. They also become bloody myopic in the process, hence the need for more spectacle outlets.
There really is more to life than just growing up in Secondary School and moving on into a Junior College where one is compelled to complete their assignments and try so hard to get a good grade. This is true to a certain extent. Most Junior College students hardly have a decent achievement in the sports field. Those who do however, are only a rare breed. And even if they come out tops in the sports field, you will never see them going beyond the National Level.
The need to show others that one has 'brains' has overcome all other desires in this country so much so that people seem to be becoming too smart for their own good. (Take anonymous for example)
I'm no bookworm, nor am I a modern day Einstein. I may not be a high flyer in school,I never did well in secondary school and I never made it to a JC. In fact,I don't even intend to further my studies in a university. So what if I'm JUST a poly student? I just count myself lucky for where I am now because with what I have, I make full use of.
Some people may think that I'm digging my own grave by not even trying to gain an 'education' but time and time again, I can only ask myself, what can I do with my paper(degree)?
Hell, my sister's boyfriend's sister can't even land a bloody job because she holds too many qualifications. ie. OVERQUALIFIED. No one even wants to employ her right now.Getting my drift yet? Even holding a degree seems hopeless.
After all, we're all still gonna die anyway..a paper's definitely not gonna do you any good if you're dead and in heaven. Or what if you suddenly lose your job and your paper can't land you a new one? Can your paper keep you up in the streets in the dead of the night? It's not knowledge that allows one to survive, it's wisdom. If you ever got into a fight or got robbed by someone, that degree couldn't help you. You'd be better off wiping your arse with that piece of toilet paper.
Christian: I'm not asking you to respect what I think. And neither is anyone here forcing you to. It was only meant to be a comical JOKE.Sure,it's definitely not an issue to be made fun of but I'd rather people not blow things out of proportion. Remember how I mentioned Terri Schiavo? I felt more pity for her and I think she deserved more attention before the pope even died.
Anonymous: The above entry was for you. If you can spot any errors in there, go ahead. The point that I wanted to make was, stop trying to be such a smart ass by coming here and trying to prove you're a shit-ass fucking great debater. And by the way, don't blame me for insulting the Catholic community, blame ebaums.
I just hope this entry has served to show that Singaporeans are just becoming TOO SMART FOR THEIR OWN GOOD. Fucking sods.
