You know how you have hardcore fans and hardcore smokers or diehard drinkers? And then you have the fairweather fans followed by the social smokers and then the social drinkers right?
I guess I'd fall under the category of a social couch potato. For those ofyou not familiar with the term, couch potato, it means I sit in front of that magical box known as the T.V whilst chomping down on something scrumptious to eat.

It's a bad habit which is why I don't indulge in overdoing it,hence, my 'social' status. But more recent events have led me to point out one small bug in the mass of programmes that I have come across..

Do any of you watch the amazing race by chance? And if you do, do you pay attention to the boyfriends(or not-so-boy friends) on the show? That's right, once again, we come back down to the issue of simplistic(?) homosexuality. What bothers me is not the fact that they're gay but the way in which they express themselves. If you DO watch carefully, they seem to be in a perpetual state of mock angst and pretensed jealousy over what? Over the couple known as Rob and Amber- the winners of Survivor.

If you're gay, fine. But what's up with the whole, "I gotta bitch about you everyday" act?? I mean, if Rob and Amber are good and they deserve to win the million bucks in the Amazing Race, why not? It's only fair isn't it? Why be angry and object to their participation in the game just because they've already won a million dollars?

It's a whole different kind of game and just looking at the way they deal with it only draws me to the conclusion that they are in serious need of some form of mental help..PRONTO.

So much for television. Here's something else that's been rather trivial.

It's been around for just over 20 years, standing in majestic wonder. It's housed the roars and cheers of many a crowd and flooded not just with lights and celebration but thousands of people in it's prime. Ok so maybe I don't know how long exactly the National Stadium's been around for but we HAVE heard of it being pulled down to make way for a new stadium havn't we??

The only question is......WHEN?

If memory serves me right (which it hasn't for 10years), the Gah-ment WAS supposed to tear it down after last year's National Day Parade. And then came the finals of the Tiger Cup. Fair enough, I guess the idea of hearing the Kallang Roar filled with victory for one last time was a noble enough reason.
And just when I thought the roar would be silenced to no more than a Meow, along comes the Standard Chartered Singapore 7s tournament.

Aw give me a break. Just when exactly are you gonna tear the damned place down!? Which brings me to another fact. Did you know that upon demolishing the old stadium, our beloved Gah-ment is gonna build a neeeeeeew one? (enter: Ooooo!! Aaaahhhh!)

The stupid thing is, it's gonna be SMALLER! It's just NOTHING BUT BAFFLING. Just why...WHY would you want to build a smaller stadium? You see, that's what you get when your sports ministry is being run by people who never had a decent sports background. They come up with a multi-million dollar marvel plan, only to make locals unhappy. As I mentioned, it's just stupid. You wanna make Singapore a dazzling sports hub by downsizing the main stadium in Singapore? Good job there.

Look at what happened during the Tiger Cup, you didn't even have enough tickets for those who DID(or actually bother) turn up to support! What's more, what I'm hoping for is that the stadium isn't only going to be built for the sole purpose of holding silly S-league matches; otherwise I'd use that as my main reason for shrinking the Stadium. If you think everyone's keen on the idea of embracing SOCCER as the national sport and making the Stadium a third of it's size to accomodate to that crowd, think again.

Which brings us back to our wonderful Gah-ment for their wonderful endeavours, ideas and efforts in striving towards their Sports for Life programme. Pfft..a smaller stadium? Then Sports for F*ck!?
