Anyway, I was pretty impressed by the professionalism at which the speakers were able to hide the pathetic state of the sports progress in this country but I was pretty riled at the fact that whenever questions are raised about what can be done to improve the state of sport, the first thing that these goons do is answer the question by using one of the following methods:
- Answering questions from the floor by posing questions of their own. Eg. "We're still trying to look into that by asking ourselves, WHAT can be done to motivate our athletes blah blah blah.." (well go fuck yourself and ask yourself why if you already havn't noticed)
- Seek to console their sorry backsides by saying that they can try to work harder the next time etc..
- Simply give excuses for their lousy showing.
Another thing that got to me was how they were making use of the Foreign Talent Schemes to cover up for their lack of hard work among local developing youth and mature athletes. As quoted by Eugene Loo(some managing director for the FAS- Fucking Assholes of Singapore), "Our main concern is to use the foreign athletes as a way to start the ball rolling before the scheme is SLOWLY phased out."
Well my question to you einstein is, WHEN exactly is this and WHY are you spending so much money on foreigners when the same money can be spent to scout and actually put to good effort, developing local athletes? Don't you see what I mean when people just give themselves excuses, time after time? If truly you wanted medals, you would have done more than just BUY your way out.
All you ever do is ask, 'Why aren't we getting GOLD medals?' well, here's my rhetorical question, 'Where the fuck are our professional sportsmen? Who truly dedicate their lives to sport?' I'd just like to go up to the guy in charge of all this, give him a slap, spit in his face and tell him, "You're a failure" Blame it on our small talent pool? That's just another bullshit excuse. I'd say, blame it on the lack of drive. Not only is it time to stop asking questions, it's time to start finding the solutions.
I leave you with a quote from a friend of mine who did some research on the development of the Chinese Athletes on their lead up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.
"Apparently there are 35 artificial white water canoe courses in China amongst the facilities. Different estimates, but between 1-200,000 athletes training full time ALL READY for the Olympics. The general consensus being that China are going to teach the rest of the world a lesson in sport unlike anything seen to date.
They are going to clean up. "
I would really love to see this being implemented in this tiny God-forsaken country that thinks Jocelyn Yeo's gonna bag an Olympic medal by training in Texas, or Li Jia Wei getting another shot at Bronze after getting married. Hell, maybe as a last resort, they'd send in C. Kunalan to set a World Record for the slowest ever 100m time..But 1-200,000 athletes READY? I can see you Singaporeans fucking shitting in your pants right now.
